RAA Saiga .308 review

I tested a doctor friend''s new eight shot Saiga .308 at the range a few days ago. It was the 21.8 barrel, hunting version, with black plastic/composite hunting stock. With iron sights it was dead on at 25 yards and put all shots in the same ragged hole. With an AimPoint 1x red dot sight attached to the rifle via a Pro side mount, the rifle shot 3 - 4 100 meter ]110 yard[ groups off sand bags with Monarch FMJ Russian ammo. A total of 80 rounds were fired with no malfunctions of any kind. The Saiga is a rugged & reliable AK type rifle. It''s a mite on the heavy side, especially with scope and mount attached, but totally reliable. Best of all was the trigger pull, which was a really excellent 3 pounds ]measured[ with very little creep. I give the rifle 5 stars for ruggedness & reliability and 3 stars for accuracy.

I purchased a Saiga 308 when they first came out several years ago and have never been displeased. I only shoot open sights and I can guarentee you don't wont to be down range out to 200 yrd. The Saiga is very accurite for a semi automatic.
